First WHO Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Tuberculosis, November 2017

13 December 2017 | Geneva - The First WHO Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Tuberculosis in the Sustainable Development Era: A Multisectoral Response was held in Moscow, Russian Federation, in November 2017. 

President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation opened the Conference, together with Ms Amina J Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary General, and Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. The Conference was attended by over 120 country delegations (14 countries from the Eastern Mediterranean Region), as well as representatives of civil society and international organizations, scientists, and researchers. 

The 2-day conference resulted in collective commitment and the End TB Declaration that will be discussed during the UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on TB in September 2018, which will seek further commitments from Heads of States. 

All participating countries committed to work hard to End TB by 2030 and WHO will fully support them to reach the targets.
