The private health sector assessment tool was developed in 2018 to facilitate the work of the research team in compiling data and the opinions of key stakeholders in order to undertake a broad, country level assessment of the private health sector. Based on the information collected, the research team was able to prepare detailed country reports on the private health sector and provide policy options for engaging the private sector in support of national efforts to achieve UHC.
The tool contains a detailed list of information that is to be compiled in the form of factual and analytical information, numerical data, and answers to questions in the form of views and opinions of key stakeholders. Although effort has been made to include an exhaustive list of information categories (checklist), yet given that the nature, format and depth of information/data varies from country to country ,the tool has been moderated according to country context but was not fundamentally altered.
