Leading international Islamic scholars unite to protect children from polio paralysis

More than 50 prominent Muslim scholars, clerics and medical experts participated in the two-day parley to debate issues related to the ongoing efforts to eradicate polio disease.Pakistan, 15 June 2014 – An International Ulama Conference on Polio Eradication has taken place co-organized by the Islamic Development Bank and the International Islamic Fiqh Academy.

The conference was held in Islamabad, Pakistan on 15–16 June. During the conference, leading Islamic scholars called for the entire Muslim world to unite in eradicating polio, and declared the polio vaccination a parental and community responsibility.

The conference was convened by the International Advisory Group for Polio Eradication and prominant scholars from Afghanistan, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
