Samira Hussein Yehya from Tebnin High School shows off her winning entry with Dr Gabriele Riedner, WHO Representative to Lebanon7 May 2018 – Samira Hussein Yehya from Tebnin High School today received a certificate of merit, signed by the WHO Regional Director, and an award from Dr Gabriele Riedner, WHO Representative to Lebanon.
Samira was one of 3 entrants in Lebanon to the World Health Day art competition, an event which is organized every year by the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean to celebrate World Health Day in the Region.
Samira displays her winning artworkSamira’s amazing artwork depicts a mother as the universal and free health care provider illustrating the theme of this year’s campaign: universal health coverage, under the slogan ‘Health for All’.
WHO is founded on the principle that it is the right of everyone to enjoy the highest attainable standard of health. Universal health coverage means that all individuals and communities receive the health services they need without suffering financial hardship which is a challenge for the Eastern Mediterranean Region with many countries experiencing complex humanitarian emergencies.
