Dr Zafar Ullah Mirza (Pakistan), was appointed Director, Division of Health System Development, 17 July 2016. 

Dr Mirza formerly worked as the Coordinator of Public Health, Innovation and Intellectual Property at WHO headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland, from July 2010 to July 2016. Dr Mirza was the Regional Adviser for Essential Medicines and Pharmaceutical Policies at the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean from November 2004 to December 2009. Previously, he was the National Executive Coordinator at the Network for Consumer Protection in Pakistan as well as the Medical Officer in the Government of Punjab. 

Dr Mirza holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Rawalpindi Medical College in Pakistan, as well as a Master’s of Science degree in Public Health in Developing Countries from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, United Kingdom.
