About the WHO Regional Committee of the Eastern Meditrranean Region

The WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean is WHO's decision-making body in the Region. It comprises representatives of from each Member State and meets in October each year.

During Regional Committee meetings, Member States:

formulate regional policies;

supervise WHO’s activities across the Region;

review the regional components of WHO's proposed programme budget; and

every five years nominate a Regional Director.
