24 April 2012 – The Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan established three national committees to prepare for and organize a range of activities related to national Vaccination Week that took place in the country from 24 to 30 April 2012. In cooperation with UNICEF, a tetanus toxoid (TT) campaign was launched at the same time targeting girls enrolled in schools located in major cities. A five-minute video film on routine immunizations was broadcast on national television and a parents’ guide booklet on routine immunizations was developed for translation into local languages.
