Consultation on evaluating policies and strategies of TB control in complex emergencies, Sharm El Sheikh, 12–14 March 2012

The regional Stop TB programme organized a consultation on evaluating policies and strategies of TB control in complex emergency from 12 to 14 March 2012, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The aims of the meeting were to:

review and discuss experiences of TB control in situations of complex emergency and humanitarian crisis

identify key action measures for TB control in situations of complex emergency and humanitarian crisis

define key indicators to monitor and evaluate TB care and control in situations of complex emergency and humanitarian crisis.

The meeting was attended by participants from the national TB programmes of Afghanistan, Egypt, Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia and Sudan, as well as from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), International Organization for Migration (IOM) United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and WHO staff from Mayanmar and Sri Lanka. 

The meeting was facilitated by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Stop TB Partnership and WHO.
