World No Tobacco Day 2005
Health professionals against tobacco

The 2005 World no tobacco day, to be held on 31 May, will focus on the important role of health professionals in promoting tobacco free lifestyles and cultures. Health professionals include doctors, nurses, midwives, dentists, psychologists, psychiatrists, pharmacists and other members of health related professions. They are a critical segment as they can help people by giving advice, guidance and answers to questions related to tobacco use and its health effects; they can also have an impact at national and international levels through their associations by influencing policy change for better tobacco control.
