LUNG CANCER

In general terms, it has been estimated that the passive smoker increases his risk of lung cancer by at least 25% over the person not exposed. It is far more significant in most countries than other forms of air pollution.

Passive smoking is estimated to cause some 3000 lung cancer deaths each year in non-smokers in the United States. There is likely to be an even higher proportion of deaths in developing countries where other polluting exposures are present.
