HEART DISEASE

Research on heart disease shows that spouses living with smokers have a 30% increased risk. The risk increases with the amount that the spouse smokes. Passive smoking also increases the way in which the platelets in the blood stick together or clog the arteries. Sticky platelets can accelerate the breakdown or atherosclerotic process in the arteries.
