President
Dr.Bashar al-Assad's meeting with World
Health Organization (WHO) Director
General , Dr.Margaret Chan, focused on
aspects of cooperation between Syria
Arab Republic and the WHO and on what
has been carried out of joint programs .
The
president stressed Syria's big attention
given to the health sector, seeking to
upgrade the health reality all over the
country, and looking forward for more
cooperation with the specialized
international organizations in this
regard.
For her
part, Chan expressed happiness for what
she touched of attention and improvement
of the health situation in Syria ,
stressing that Syria has a serious will
to achieve a distinguished health
system.
Dr. Chan
affirmed that Syria is on the right path
for developing its health system,
stressing that Syria has the will for
achieving this.
In a
statement to SANA, Dr. Chan described
her meeting with President alAssad as
very good, saying it encompassed a
variety of issues related to public
health, women affairs and providing
proper care for them, underlining
Syria's keenness to provide an effective
health system and healthcare services to
citizens.
"The Syrian
people have a President who is working
for his people and his country," Dr.
Chan said, affirming that Syria is
taking correct steps towards achieving
its developmental goals, particularly
with regard to preserving health of
children and mothers, combating disease,
and focusing on education, despite the
challenges facing Syria in these
domains.
She
expressed satisfaction over the
activities in Syria that reflect
interest in the health sector, combating
contagious diseases and smoking, and
providing healthcare to all members of
the society.
