May 2012 – The communicable disease surveillance, forecasting and response programme is in the process of developing a simple applicable tool to calculate the burden of influenza and other acute respiratory infections. It is expected that the products of the tool will be used as evidence to establish appropriate policies and plans to control acute respiratory infections.
