TB Day in countries of the Region
Afghanistan
A press conference was held in Kabul during
which the Minister of Public Health gave a
speech as well as the WHO and JICA
representative.
A drama played by Afghani actors was
included in the press conference adgenda WHO
and JICA have jointly produced T-shirts
and badges with the message “STOP TB - Let's
share the responsibility”
Local TV and radio stations have been
broadcasting talk shows and interviews
related to TB issues two-days earlier to 24th
of March.

Egypt (posted 23 March 2005)
A pre-world TB Day Media workshop at the
National TB control Programme headquarters
in Abbassiya, Cairo. The workshop was held
on 22 March 2005 to brief 20 representatives
for the local and regional press and media
on the World TB Day 2005-2006 year-long
campaign requirements and the NTP’s planned
activities.
On Occasion of World TB Day 2005 (WTBD2005),
a press conference was held at Mansoura
Medical School under theme of :“Promoting
for partnership between Medical Schools and
the media and the role of either in TB
control”.
Iraq
Under the auspices of his Excellency the
Iraqi minister of health and in
collaboration with the national TB control
programme, the Iraqi Ministry of Health is
holding The Third Iraq TB Conference 23-24
March 2005, Baghdad - Iraq.

Oman
On Tuesday March 15th, 2005 the
Department of Medicine, Pulmonology Section
in Collaboration with the Out-Patient
Nursing Department is organizing a WORLD TB
DAY 2005 event celebrating the efforts of
the TB nurses and care providers who are the
everyday heroes in the fight against
tuberculosis.

In Pakistan, World TB Day 2005 will be
commemorated in an event organized by the
department of communicable disease

the local media about how TB affected

Somalia
A commemoration event was organized
by COSV in Lower Shabelle Region during
which members of the community were
invited to participate. Another ceremony
was held in Merka where people presented
talks, music shows, drama and radio
propaganda among others.
