DOTS in economic difficulties

Iraq managed to achieve DOTS ALL OVER despite extremely difficult economic conditions. The NTP manager took a strong leadership role in initiating a DOTS pilot project in collaboration with WHO and the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases (IUATLD). Once the anti-TB drug supply became regular, the NTP drastically expanded DOTS activities and achieved DOTS ALL OVER in 2 years. Although the TB incidence has increased by almost 200% in the last 10 years due to the economic situation, all of TB cases are being managed effectively through DOTS.
