Inter-regional
planning workshop on Public-Private Mix for tuberculosis control Outline Background Engaging all care providers in TB control through Public-Private Mix (PPM) approaches with the help of the new International Standards for TB Care, is a core component of the new Stop TB Strategy. Several countries have already begun involving different types of health care providers in TB control and countries in Asia with a large private sector are making reasonable progress. PPM activities are already in place in some countries of Africa and in the Eastern Mediterranean region and there is great potential to successfully maximize TB care and control through PPM in these countries. A TB CAP project on promoting public-private partnership for TB control, supported by USAID, has offered an excellent opportunity to make rapid progress in this area. National situation assessments have been carried out in 5 AFR and 5 EMR countries. Equipped with the situation assessment reports, National TB Programme Managers and their national level focal persons for PPM will participate in this PPM planning workshop. The aim of the workshop is to help NTP managers with preparing sound, budgeted and action-oriented operational plans for PPM expansion in their respective countries. The objectives and expected outcomes of the workshop are as below: Objectives
