Tenth Meeting of National Tuberculosis Programme Managers in the Eastern Mediterranean Region

Country exercises during the NTP managers’ meeting

  • Where are we now in 2005?” An epidemiological and programme review of TB and its control situation in each country of the Region, particularly in comparison with the 70/85 global targets of 2005 was conducted.

 

  • Where do we want to go in the next 10 years and how?” We have expanded and are improving our DOTS. The next step is to make DOTS at high quality (70/85) and fully introduce new approaches (PPM, HIV/TB, DOTS Plus, PAL, etc), and to reduce the burden of TB. Millennium Development Goals (MDG) are where we need to be in 10 years. Strategic directions and formulated a 10-year strategic plan were therefore discussed. 

 

  • What are the important steps that need to be taken in the coming 2 years?” A good beginning makes a good ending. JPRM 2-year plan (2006-7) were discussed and developed
