15 February 2012 – The Federal Ministry of Health established the Darfur Health Early Recovery Taskforce in December 2011 to lead the development of an early recovery strategy for health, based on Sudan’s national strategy for early recovery in Darfur.
With support from health partners led by WHO, the early recovery for health strategy will form part of a wider intervention to facilitate peace and stability in Darfur. It is expected to ensure coherence among the priorities of the different partners and alignment with the national strategy.
The Taskforce is expected to develop:
an early recovery strategy for health in Darfur
a detailed five-year plan on how to address priority areas and translate policies and strategies into specific implementable activities
fund raising potentialities, mechanisms and processes.
