April 2025 – The World Health Organization (WHO), as the Recipient, will implement Parts 1.2, 1.3, 2, 3.2, and 3.3(b) (hereinafter referred to as the “Recipient’s Respective Parts of the Project”) of the Sudan Health Assistance and Response to Emergencies Project (SHARE) (the “Project”), as outlined in the Financing Agreement. The International Development Association (the Association) has agreed to provide financial support for the Project, as detailed in the aforementioned agreement.
The Recipient shall ensure that the Project is implemented in full compliance with the Environmental and Social Standards (ESSs) and the provisions set forth in this Environmental and Social Commitment Plan (ESCP), and that it is carried out in a manner deemed acceptable to the Association. To this end, WHO has adopted an Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) for the Recipient’s Respective Parts of the Project. This framework outlines the necessary measures and actions to be undertaken by the Recipient, or by parties under its direction, including, where applicable.
The ESMF includes the following annexes:
(i) Labor Management Procedures (LMP),
(ii) Social Assessment and Social Risk Management Framework (SA/SRMF),
(iii) Security Risk Assessment and Management Plan (SRA/MP),
(iv) Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment (SEA/SH) Risk Assessment and Action Plan,
(v) Generic Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP), and (vi) Generic Waste Management Plan (WMP).
