The WHO global strategy on reproductive health was introduced to the Member States of the Region at an intercountry meeting in 2007. Follow-up activities have since been undertaken to ensure that country reproductive health strategies are upgraded in line with the strategy.

As a result of these efforts, Afghanistan, Djibouti, Egypt, Jordan, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Yemen have all developed their national strategies and programmes towards achieving universal access to reproductive health.
