The Ministry of Health of South Sudan, in coordination with WHO, UNICEF and other partners, is collaborating to maintain high vaccination rates among children by conducting four polio immunization campaigns in 2012. The first door-to-door national immunization days took place in all 10 states of South Sudan from 27 February to 1 March 2012. The campaign is targeting 3.2 million children less than 5 years of age. As a result of these joint efforts, South Sudan has not reported any polio cases since June 2009.
