Mediterranean Region The World Health Organization Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean Region in collaboration with Qatar University is planning to organize the first regional nutrition conference: nutrition challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, at the department of health sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, Qatar University in Doha, Qatar on 28 and 29 March 2011.

surveillance training modules United Arab Emirates, in collaboration with the World Health Organization, launches its first nutrition strategy The Ministry of Health in the United Arab Emirates launches its first national nutrition strategy in the country in a press conference to be held tomorrow 25 May 2010 in Dubai. The national strategy is based on the WHO regional strategy for nutrition. It aims at alleviating health problems and controlling the burden of noncommunicable diseases related to unhealthy nutrition, such as diabetes, heart diseases, obesity and cancers. Nutrition-related diseases are among the major causes of morbidity and mortality in most countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Press release (Arabic)
