Several key steps that are essential for the effective planning, monitoring and evaluation of health care activities. This module takes you through these steps of programme and project management, from the primary stage of setting objectives to the monitoring process which determines the progress of achieving specific objectives.  As a good planner, you must be able to set goals, choose relevant activities to achieve them, determine the costs involved and make decisions based on a cost-analysis analysis, deciding on  their relative importance. All stages must be well documented, including the planning stage in project proposals, and during implementation, through regular and timely reports. Findings and information must be communicated effectively throughout the organization in a clear feedback process and stored in a retrievable manner.

Rationale

A systematic process of setting objectives and following how those objectives are being achieved in an timely manner, is essential for making the necessary alterations to improve performance.

Aims

The primary aim of the module is to ensure that participants are able to perform the planning, leading, organizing, and controlling functions needed to manage services and programs effectively.
