Management
practices are important in all health care settings. Strengthening
the management capabilities of the health workforce is a critical strategy
for improving the performance of health facilities and
building health systems.
The Management Effectiveness Programme (MEP) provides
national health authorities with an approach and practical framework for
building individual competence and organizational capacity in management
throughout the health system.
The MEP has been introduced by a number of countries of the Region
including
Iran, Syria and Egypt.
who have adapted its elements according to their own specific strategy for
improving the management of health care services and health outcomes.
The uniqueness of MEP is that it

is a global programme with a country-specific focus;

is responsive to, and interactive with, the changing pattern of health
care systems;

Builds on successes and improvements introduced by leaders and teams
into the health system;
