On the completion of this module, you will be able to:

  • Recognize the essential considerations for community involvement in health development;

  • Recognize community involvement as inevitable and understand the need for organizations and managers to be proactive in dealing with community involvement;

  • Identify potential methods that might help develop community action for health;

  • Recognize the multisectoral character of health development;

  • Identify the reasons why health strategies have not advanced in the direction of community involvement and intersectoral approach;

  • Determine the appropriate content of training for community health development; 

  • Recognize the sources of funds within the community and within the country for community development;

  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of the importance of Research and Development (R & D) in health development;

  • Identify the ways to design a health information monitoring system within the context of community involvement;

  • Identify the important elements that lead to successful expansion from local projects to large-scale programmes.
