Reducing the time required in the issuing of requests for blood units

Aim of project: To reduce the time required to have requested blood units  from 70 minutes.

Methods used: Flowchart devised, RASCI, Gantt chart, brainstorming sessions

 

Solutions: Enhanced the process of preparation of newly collected blood units especially the rare groups, re-organization of the procedures for preparation of requested blood units, training on procedures.

Results: Observed reduction in waiting time to approximately 35-30 minutes
