Aim of project: To reduce prevalence and improve treatment of TB in the community.

Methods used: Situation analysis conducted of the availability of services, collection of statistics on cases, questionnaires completed by health personnel and residents availability of services.

Solutions: Enhancing the performance of existing health centre, completion of unfinished building to establish specialized laboratory for screening, treatment using the DOTS technique and filtering patients requiring hospital care, follow-up of cases, health education specifically on smoking, environmental health initiatives, mobile screening unit for vulnerable groups through the support of the Ministry of Health and Cairo governorate.
