Aim of project: To improve the conditions in which patients attending the outpatient clinic wait.

Methods used: Questionnaires concerning patient satisfaction and perspectives of physicians,   run chart of number of patients per day,  time spent by patient from entering clinic to receiving prescription, flowchart showing journey of patients.

Solutions: Redesign of waiting area including more space, seats and new entrance avoiding the hospital, increase number of doctors available per shift especially on Saturdays and Sundays to reduce waiting time. Future plans to review referral system.

Results: A designated patient waiting area has been established.
