WHO and the National Mental Health Programme launch a guide for the rational prescription of psychotropic and neurological medications

Lebanon_GuideThe new guide launched by WHO and the National Mental Health Programme will be presented to psychologists and neurologists in a series of orientation sessionsWHO and the National Mental Health Programme at the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon have launched the “Guide for the rational prescription of medications for priority mental and neurological conditions for specialists in the public health system”. Orientation sessions with psychiatrists and neurologists to introduce the guide began on 29 October 2018.

This guide provides contextualized evidence-based pharmacological treatment of priority mental and neurological conditions to improve quality of prescription and ensure continuum of care, while highlighting the importance of the psychosocial component as part of holistic person-centred care. The process of development encompassed two rounds of technical review from experts at local and international level.
