Situation analysis

There are several NGOs working in areas related to women's health. WHO has provided support to NGOs work in areas related to Women's human rights and environmental health. Other UN Agencies are also providing support in this area of work (UNFPA, UNIFEM and UNICEF). The Ministry of health has identified women's health as a priority for collaboration with WHO during 2002-2003. The overall goal of the project is to enhance the health status of Jordanian women. Interventions proposed under this project focus on key aspects of women's health that encompass women's reproductive and nonreproductive health across lifespan including health promotion, health lifestyle behaviours, and prevention, early detection, and treatment of chronic diseases.

Priorities for WHO collaboration will focus on establishing a data bank on women's health in Jordan and conducting research on needs assessment and lifestyle behaviours.

Objectives
  • To conduct an extensive sitation analysis and develop a data bank on women's health

  • To identify priorities for future action
