Situation analysis


During the last 10 years, MOH in collaboration with WHO had developed the community medicine programme. Ten courses were conducted and about 120 physicians with a diploma in community medicine were graduated. 20 of them had passed the Arab Board in Community Medicine and other 20 to 25 had finished their training and now are conducting their thesis.

Enormous efforts had been spent in the last two years, which led to the establishment of the health academy. A 1200m2 building had been renovated for this purpose, and it is now in the phase of furnishing. It will consist of 11 classrooms, library and a computer lab.

Objectives
 
  • To support the MOH in strengthening the HRD programme with special emphasis on human resources management and continuing education
     
  • Strengthening the partnership between the authority responsible for human resources development and health delivery services
     

Priorities

Priority is given to strengthen national capacity in public health, health management, health economics and insurance support to the family medicine programme will continue.

Evaluation and outcome
 

  • Community medicine specialists will be increased.
     
  • Family medicine specialists will be increased.
     
  • Managers will be increased and their skills will be improved.
