Bi-regional workshop on the implementation of the global school-based student health survey
22-25 June 2009, Tunis, Tunisia

The World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean and WHO headquarters, in collaboration with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta, are holding a “Bi-regional workshop on the implementation of the global school-based student health survey”, from 22 to 25 June 2009, in Tunis, Tunisia. The key objective of the workshop is to build capacity in data collection and analysis. Participants from WHO African and Eastern Mediterranean Regions working in the areas of health, school health and health-promoting schools will attend the workshop.

Intercountry workshop on integrating the WHO Global Strategy on Diet and Physical Activity and Health in Schools
27 June - 2 July 2009

Subsequent to the bi-regional workshop, the Regional Office will conduct an “Intercountry workshop on integrating the WHO Global Strategy on Diet and Physical Activity and Health in Schools”, from 27 June to 2 July 2009, Tunis, Tunisia. The main objectives of this workshop are to review a guide to implement the WHO Global Strategy on Diet and Physical Activity in school settings and develop national plans to promote healthy diet and physical activity in schools. This initiative reflects the Regional Office’s efforts to address overweight and obesity among children.
