The functions of the regional
committee are:

To act
as an advisory body to the Regional Director in matters relating to
the implementation and evaluation of the strategies and plans of
action of health for all adopted by Member States.

To advise the Regional Director on policies and strategies for the
development of technical cooperation amongst and between countries
of the Region.

To advise the Regional Director on the main thrusts and directions for
preparing the programme budget in conformity with the Organization’s
General Programme of Work covering a specific period, and in keeping
with the decisions and recommendations of the policy organs with the
view of satisfying the health development of Member States.

To review the methods of work of the Regional Committee and study the
Regional WHO’s structure in its functions.

To assist the Regional Director in securing extra-budgetary resources
for strengthening the WHO collaborative programme in the Region
particularly those programmes of the less fortunate Member States of
the Region.

To advise the Regional Director on any other topics referred to the
Consultative Committee by him.
