Good Governance leads to a better performance of the health system because it provides for greater accountability to beneficiaries, greater trust and participation and increased transparency. The overall policy of the program is to provide technical support to MS in the area of Governance in health sector through the following key strategies:

  1. Strengthening Regional technical assistance on health Governance through capacity development of MOHs with greater attention to countries in crisis; this includes skill development in policy analysis and strategy formulation.
  2. Supporting MOH to improve its capacity to formulate and update public health laws to better regulate the for-profit- private sector;
  3. Strengthen national capacities to improve aid effectiveness and donor coordination especially in complex emergency countries
  4. Establishing updated and reliable EMR countries health profile under the Regional health system observatory to monitor and evaluate the attainment of critical outcomes and the efficiency of the health system
  5. promoting participation and partnership for health development, advocate for greater accountability and transparency through sharing experience
  6. Promoting health in all policies approach to ensure the whole-of-a government policy initiatives aimed to improve population health and address equity in health outcomes.
