About EMHJ

The Eastern Mediterranean Health Journal (EMHJ) is a monthly, open access, international, peer-reviewed journal published by the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (WHO/EMRO). EMHJ publishes papers in all areas of public health, in English, Arabic, and French and in support of the WHO strategic objective of making health knowledge accessible to all.

Established in 1995, the journal aims to contribute to improvements in health care through the publication of quality research papers that address strategic health priorities across the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Published papers include original research papers, commentaries, reviews, short research communications, reports, and case reports focusing on health systems strengthening; emergency preparedness and response; communicable and noncommunicable diseases; mental health; reproductive, maternal and child health; and other areas of public health.

EMHJ publishes and disseminates up-to-date information to keep public health researchers, practitioners, and professionals well-informed about recent and emerging developments and to support health policy decision-making at all levels. It is available mainly online and in print.

EMHJ occasionally publishes supplements and special editions on different thematic areas of public health.
