Sixth regional conference on medical journals

EMMJ6The Sixth regional conference on medical journals in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMMJ6) was held in Shiraz, Islamic Republic of Iran from 18 to 20 February 2015. It was organized and hosted by the Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, and cosponsored by WHO. Also participating were the Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors, and representatives of the World Association of Medical Editors, national associations of medical editors of several countries, European Association of Science Editors and Mediterranean Editors and Translators.

The focus of the conference was on the current status of biomedical and health journals in the Region, open access and ‘predatory’ journals. WHO Representative Dr Jihane Tawilah delivered the message of the Regional Director. It was the second time that Shiraz had hosted this regional event, which included a general assembly meeting of the Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors (EMAME) and election of a new EMAME executive board.
