Objectives

The objectives of the meeting were to: 

• Discuss progress of scaling up the IMCI strategy to reach the Millennium Development Goal on reduction of child mortality (MDG 4);

• Discuss mechanisms of IMCI scaling up to increase IMCI coverage;

• Update countries on new areas of child health within the IMCI context, particularly neonatal health; and

• Review progress of the IMCI community component.
