A row of donated vehicles with WHO logo provided to the Ministry of Public Health of LebanonBeirut, 2 July – WHO Lebanon has provided the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health with 13 vehicles with the support of the Kuwaiti emergency fund.

The vehicles are intended to support the network of primary health care centres, the surveillance programme, and the communicable diseases and tuberculosis control programmes.

Threats to public health respect no boundaries and countries need to build strong capacities to respond to any emerging threats. Lebanon is no exception at a time when disease outbreaks may represent a real threat to publich health.

The donation of the vehicles will increase the capacity of the Ministry to respond to emerging public health threats, in compliance with the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005).
