WHO conducted a two‐day workshop in Beirut, Lebanon, for 20 psychiatrists and sociologists from Damascus, Homs, Lattakia and Deir‐ez‐Zor to scale‐up mental health and psychosocial support activities in Syria. Participants were represented by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Higher Education, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), local nongovernmental organizations and UN agencies.
Mental health experts and consultants from the country office in Syria, the Regional Office and headquarters trained the participants on mental health activities in crisis‐ and post‐crisis times, and preparation for improving mental health services in Syria.
