An intercountry orientation and planning workshop on the global community health workers package on child care took place in Cairo, Egypt, from 23 to 26 November 2009.
The objectives of the workshop were:
- to orient participants to a new set of training materials and tools for community health workers jointly developed by WHO and UNICEF; and
- to develop plans of action to strengthen community IMCI (Integrated Management of Child Health), in order to increase access to quality child care through community health workers.
