Oral health campaign in schools of Kabul

A trainer conducts training on oral health for teachers in AfghanistanThe WHO Global Oral Health Programme aligns its work with the strategy of chronic disease prevention and health promotion. Emphasis is put on developing global policies in oral health promotion and oral disease prevention.
WHO has provided technical and financial support to the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Education in conducting a series of workshops on oral health for school teachers in Kabul city. The main objectives of the workshops were to r
aise awareness of oral health and prevention of teeth and other oral cavity diseases.

Twenty-five workshops were conducted from 10 March to 26 May 2013, with a total of 1250 teachers trained from 475 schools of Kabul city. Workshops were facilitated by experts from the Oral Health Department of the Ministry of Public Health.

Teaching materials, including posters, in local languages were also provided to the participants, and these will be used in subsequent awareness-raising sessions for students of these 475 schools in the near future.
