Mr Afif Al Fariqi, President of the Arab Road Safety Organization,  his deputy Brigadier Hassan Al Hosani, Dr Mahmoud Fikri, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, and HE Mr Ghassan Hasbani, the Minister of Public Health and Deputy Prime Minister of Lebanon

17 May 2017 – In the presence of HE Mr Ghassan Hasbani, the Minister of Public Health and Deputy Prime Minister of Lebanon, Dr Mahmoud Fikri, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, was honoured by the Arab Road Safety Organization. The award was presented by Mr Afif Al Fariqi, President of the Arab Road Safety Organization, and his deputy Brigadier Hassan Al Hosani, in recognition of the support provided by the Regional Office to the initiative of "Youth are Peace Ambassadors on Roads 2017–2030".

The Initiative was endorsed at the International Conference for Road Safety held in Tunisia under the theme "Prospects and Challenges". The Conference acknowledges that youth are the solution to addressing road safety, rather than the problem.
