Donor contributions make it possible for WHO to develop its programmes and provide technical support to Member States. During humanitarian emergencies, donor contributions facilitate the provision of technical support, medical supplies and coordination services. To continue our work and to increase our capacity, funding is vital.

Consolidated Appeal Process 2011: the health sector
WHO and its health partners launched 14 appeals for 2011 on 30 November to address humanitarian health needs. These included appeals for six countries in the Eastern Mediterranean Region: Afghanistan, Djibouti, occupied Palestinian territory, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

Pakistan floods donor alert
Heavy flooding caused by the monsoon in Pakistan affected the lives of over five million people. In the framework of the Pakistan Rapid Response Plan for the Floods, the Health and Nutrition Cluster is appealling for US$ 45.9 million, of which US$ 14.8 is requested by WHO for health, nutrition and water and sanitation interventions.
WHO guidelines for donations of medicines
Guidelines for donations of medicines were developed by the World Health Organization, in cooperation with major international agencies active in humanitarian relief, to improve the quality of medicine donations.
