World Health Day package for the Region:
A special package has been developed for the
World Health day highlighting the issue of promotion of mental health and prevention of
mental illness in the Region.
The package is available in English and Arabic
Seven Days- Seven Faces: 
A Video showing the diversity of mental
health programs being implemented in countries of the region but United in the common
cause of making mental health care available, accessible and affordable to their people.
It also shows innovative strategies of
intersctoral collaboration to prevent mental ill health and promote mental health , in
face of heavy odds.
Shades of Hope: 
A special exhibition is being organized of
the art works of mentally ill persons from countries across the region at EMRO. The
exhibition would open on April 1st 2001.
Monograph:
A special monograph detailing the development
taking place in the Region in field of mental health over the last two decades is in its
final stages of preparation. Its distribution would coincide with the World Health Day ,
April 7th 2001.

Media and Mental Health:
A special meeting on the role of media in
mental health promotion is being organized at EMRO from 1-3 April 2001, to foster
alliances between health and media sector to achieve the health for all objective.
Essential Neuro psychiatric drugs:
A meeting to review the mechanism for
updating essential neuropsychiatry drugs and develop national treatment standards for
countries in the region is being organized in Iran, Tehran, from 17-19 April 200.
World Health Day reception
The World Health Day reception on 7th April
2001 will be organized by the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean Region of WHO
at Dar Ul Hikmat, Cairo, Egypt.
