The World Health Organization (WHO) in support of the Ministry of Public
Health Primary Health Care Network
implemented nationally a series of six workshops to help provide needed
communication skills to Primary
Health Care workers. The workshops’ goal was to help build the
capacities of primary health care professionals
on communication skills in order to enable them to better deliver
quality health messages to the communities.
Six workshops were implemented in coordination with the Ministry of
Public Health and 142 participants attended.

provided the five sessions of the program
in the different workshops. The program covered Introduction to Health
Promotion and Health Education,

The participants consisted mostly of medical-nursing care professionals,
65%, and available social care and health
educators, 15% and 2%. The participants, 67%, that attended were mostly
affiliated to the Ministry of Health Primary
Health Care Network. They were mostly from non-governmental organizations,
47%, and came mostly from Bekaa,

Health Immunization Centers.
The workshops
evaluation results showed that participants were greatly interested in
the workshops and the pre
and post tests showed an average of 6% (ranging between 3%-11%) increase
in knowledge. Recommendations for
more in depth sessions and more practical implementation were requested,
in addition to workshops on different
health topics preparing the health care workers for better provision of
