Training on Gender for UNCT Gender Task Force

UNESCO Iraq organized a training on Gender for the UNCT GTF (Gender Task Force) member agencies on 10- 11 April 2011 in Amman. The learning objectives of the training were to: a) understand the basic principles of gender mainstreaming; b) pinpoint obstacles that need to be addressed to work towards gender equality and highlight the solutions that need to be implemented in order to overcome those obstacles; c) share good practices and learn from each other; d) know how to apply practical approaches and tools and; and e) improve the participants’ ability to support changes in their attitudes and behavior. On the first day, WHO provided a brief presentation on some of the main health‐related gender equality issues in Iraq affecting women in particular. On the second day, WHO shared with the participants the gender mainstreaming tools often used.
